Grégoire jacquot
Cidrerie de Reillon
I'm delighted to welcome my first cider maker to the portfolio.
In 2020, Grégoire Jacquot founded Cidrerie de Reillon, situated near the river valleys and the western foothills of the Vosges Mountains in Lorraine.
A region of hillsides, the Lorraine has a rich fruit-growing culture that Grégoire wanted to showcase through his cuvées. With a total of 6 hectares, the diversity of fruit species and varieties found in Lorraine's orchards offers an exceptionally broad range of flavours. This rural heritage, where he grew up, lies at the heart of his work.
Passionate about agroforestry and trained as an orchardist, Grégoire works with fruit from his own orchards as well as fruit gathered from traditional high-stem orchards within a 40 km radius of the cidery.
The apples are predominantly sharp, producing ciders with vibrant acidity and great freshness. In addition to apples, he also work with pears, quinces, mirabelle plums, cherries, damsons, and other seasonal fruits.
All his ciders are made without additives and fermented exclusively with native yeasts. he rack them several times during fermentation and, when necessary, carry out a light filtration to slow the fermentation. After a few months of maturation in tank, the cider is bottled, where it continues to ferment gently.
With his beekeeping certification, Grégoire also runs a small-scale beekeeping activity. He extracts his honey at a shared facility in Battigny, built by the local community to support beekeepers across the Lunévillois region. He uses this honey to produce his own honey and cidromel (apple mead).
Even as a young producer, Grégoire has already gained recognition among his peers. His bottles can be found across Europe and now some of his cuvées are available in the UK.
